The LSU Eye Center of Excellence is part of the Access Grid, a network of more than 70 domestic and international sites using high-speed Internet connections to enable truly interactive meetings among participants. The LSU Eye Center has two conference rooms with Access Grid (http://www.lsu-eye.lsuhsc.edu/facilities_accessgrid.aspx) technology nodes in the Lions Building:
Room 3B2, Rosenthal Conference Room, with conference style chairs and tables. Accommodates up to 50 attendees comfortably.
Room 4D1, also with conference style chairs and tables. Accommodates up to 20 attendees comfortably.
Each provides live interactive audio and video for distributed meetings, remote visualization and collaboration, and distance education. The Access Grid utilizes multiple cameras and screens to allow participants to move around the room and incorporate no-digital materials into their presentations. The Access Grid also supports multimedia display applications, such as PowerPoint, MPEG video, and OpenGL windows. Providing real time video and audio, the Access Grid facility can be useful in supporting large-scale distributed meetings.
To reserve an Access Grid conference room, email qtran3@lsuhsc.edu and specify the number of attendees.
