Gifts and Giving

The LSU Eye Center of Excellence recognizes that private philanthropy is the cornerstone of our recognized position as an international leader in ophthalmology. Our success in the fight against blinding eye disease is perpetuated by the generous gifts of countless friends and benefactors. Gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations have helped build new facilities, continue ground-breaking research and discover amazing new advances. The Eye Center offers a variety of philanthropic options to those who wish to contribute to this tradition of excellence. Donations, in any amount, are of immeasurable value. The LSU Eye Center is deeply grateful to all who provide the philanthropy essential to the effort to prevent blindness and restore vision.

Every year, millions of people are diagnosed with debilitating diseases of the eye. And every year, extraordinary breakthroughs in the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases are made here at the LSU Eye Center. We accomplish our mission to preserve sight and prevent blindness by extending the scientific projects and humanistic programs that best serve the community and contribute to the advancement of ophthalmology worldwide.

Gifts to the LSU Eye Center can be made in many ways, for a variety of purposes:

  • Contributions may be made for general support, or restricted to a specific area within the LSU Eye Center.
  • Some individuals help create endowments, which last in perpetuity and may be named in honor of the donor(s). Others provide immediate support for individual researchers, facilities, training, research or new equipment.
  • Support may be made through an outright gift, a pledge payable over a period of years, a life-income gift, such as a charitable remainder trust or annuity, or a bequest. Gifts may be made in the form of cash, appreciated securities, real estate, or personal property.
